The entry-level Mahindra XUV700 MX trim will have features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, Android Auto compatibility, day/night Internal Rear View Mirror (IRVMs), power-adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs) with built-in turn indicators, LED tail-lamps, steering-mounted controls and 17-inch steel rims with wheel covers.

Mahindra XUV700: AX series features

In the AX series, the base Mahindra XUV700 AX3 gets two 10.25-inch screens on the dashboard for the infotainment system and digital dials, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, built-in Amazon Alexa virtual assistant, Mahindra’s ‘AdrenoX Connect’ connected car tech, a six-speaker sound system, LED daytime running lights, and front fog lamps.

Over the AX3 trim, the XUV700 AX5 adds features like a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, sequential turn indicators, cornering lights, curtain airbags and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The top-of-the-range XUV700 AX7 trim will get all of the above features and more like Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology, a Driver drowsiness alert, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, leather wrapped steering and gear lever, 6-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function, side airbags (seven in total) and 18-inch diamond-cut alloys.

Apart from the aforementioned features, Mahindra will also offer various option packs to add equipment like wireless chargers, 360-degree cameras, a 3D surround sound system, blind view monitor and an electronic parking brake.

Mahindra XUV700: engine and gearbox

As mentioned earlier, the new XUV700 is available with petrol and diesel engine options. There’s a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Mahindra mStallion turbo-petrol unit that’s tuned to produce 200hp and 380Nm, while the diesel is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbocharged unit that comes in two states of tune. The lower-powered unit (reserved for the entry level MX version) produces 155hp and 360Nm, while the unit in the AX variants churns out 185hp and 420Nm (450Nm with the automatic gearbox). The diesel engine also comes with four drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom – which are claimed to alter performance and steering response.

Both engines can be had with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, though the lower-spec diesel will be available with a manual only. There is also an all-wheel-drive model on offer.
